| | I'd like to share a
little bit of my testimony and tell you what God did for me as a little
4th grade girl with pigtails and how it has affected the rest of my
life....
When
I was in 4th grade my father got a different job and my family moved to
a town far away. The hardest part was that I had to leave all of
my friends and go to a different school where I didn't know
anyone. To make it worse, it was at the end of the school year
with only 2 weeks left and everyone knew everyone else but me!
After we moved, my then
non-Christian mother gave me a youth bible. One day I picked up
the bible and read about the parable of the widow in Luke 18. It
tells of a widow going to the judge of a city with a request that she
had. She kept going and going and asking and asking until finally
the judge got tired of her asking and granted her request. It
then says that God will do that for his own people who cry out to Him
day and night!!
I was so sad about not having any
friends and wondered if I would ever find friends like I had
before. I had noticed one little girl at school, named
Julie. She was so sweet and nice to everyone and secretly I
wished she could be my friend. So one night before going to bed I
decided I would do what Luke 18 said to do. Every night and every
morning and any other time I thought about it, I would ask God if Julie
could be my best friend. That summer I discovered that she lived
right up the street from me and guess what happened? Not only did
Julie become my best friend in grade school, she was my best friend all
through high school and when we both got married, I was her
maid-of-honor and she was mine!
You might think that that is just a
cute little story about a 4th grade little girl, but it became one of
the most important lessons of my adult life! Later as an adult,
when I was faced with the most difficult trials,
I remembered what God had done for me, so I would cry out to Him day
and night and He always answered my request! In fact, even as I
write this I am thinking about a difficult situation in my life right
now and I am reminded again to cry out to Him day and night.
One more really awesome thing. When
I read this passage as an adult and was going through an extremely difficult
trial, I discovered a "secret" that I hadn't noticed
when I was young. Here it is....
"And
shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him,
though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"
Luke 18:7,8
I remember seeing the word
"speedily" and thinking that God didn't have to put that word in there,
so He must have meant it! I am here to tell you that He
does mean it! The biggest trial of my life was really short compared to
others that had gone through the same thing because I not only cried
out to the Lord constantly, but I kept reminding Him that He said He
would do it speedily. He is just looking for people with FAITH!
We need to take Him at His word and BELIEVE Him! How
"speedily" He will grant your request, only He knows, but I know He will because He said He will....and He ALWAYS does what He says!
